Phrases/ arranging
Message from mohammad51 posted on 07-09-2022 at 11:40:27 (D | E | F)
Hello

First of all, is not there a rule into how arranging prepositional phrases ?
I know the prepositional phrase of time comes after the one of place ( usually at the end of the sentence)
But to deal with those phrases which are neither a place or time ?
please, if anyone could guide me.
Thank you in advance

Make complete sentences by placing the phrases given in the brackets in the correct position.

1 . My father came (early morning, by train, from Baroda)
My answer : My father came by train from Baroda early morning.
Is it (by train I put first or or from Baroda I put first ) ?
i.e. My father came from Baroda by train early morning.

2. The principal gave a speech (in great anger to the students)
My answer : The principal gave a speech to the students in great anger.
Is it ( to the students I put first or in great anger I put first) ?
i.e. The principal gave a speech in great anger to the students .

Hello
I would have said :

My father came from Baroda by the early morning train.

In great anger, the principal gave a speech to the students.
Or
The principal in great anger gave a speech to the students.

The principal gave a speech to the students in great anger. might mean that the students were in great anger.
