Le petit tailleur /correction

Bonjour à tous, j'ai une traduction à faire et j'aimerais savoir ce qui ne va pas; merci par avance à tous ceux qui pourront m'aider.J'ai indiqué en rouge ce qui me pose le plus problème.
Le texte original:
Vaillant, le petit tailleur grimpa jusqu’au sommet de la montagne. Là, il aperçut un géant qui assis, regardait en bas. Il s’approcha et lui adressa la parole : « Bonjour, camarade, tu contemples le vaste monde ? « Je m’y rends justement. Veux-tu m’accompagner ?» Le géant lui jeta un regard méprisant. « Crapule, misérable », s’écria t-il. « Penses-tu ! », répondit le petit tailleur qui, déboutonnant sa veste, lui fit voir sa ceinture : « Vois-tu quel homme je suis ! » Le géant lut « Sept d’un coup » et, croyant qu’il s’agissait d’hommes que le tailleur avait tués, il se ravisa et montra un peu plus de respect à son égard. On saura avant peu qui de nous deux l’emportera sur l’autre ».
Toutefois, comme il voulait le mettre à l’épreuve, le géant prit une pierre et la pressa dans sa main si bien que de l’eau en jaillit. « Fais-en de même si tu en as la force », lui dit-il. « Si ce n’est que ça !rétorqua le petit tailleur, « chez nous c’est un jeu d’enfant ». Il sortit le fromage de sa poche, le pressa et un liquide en sortit. « Eh bien, qu’en dis-tu ? N’était-ce pas mieux ? » demanda t’-il.
Alors le géant, qui ne voyait pas bien et ne savait pas qu’il ne s’agissait que d’un fromage, ne sut rien dire ; peu après il ramassa une pierre qu’il lança si haut que l’on ne pouvait à peine la voir. « Fais-en autant, p’tit homme » dit-il. « Bien lancé, reconnut le tailleur, mais la pierre a dû retomber. Je vais en lancer une qui ne redescendra pas. » Et il prit l’oiseau qui se trouvait dans sa besace et la lança dans l’air. Celui-ci, à présent libéré et joyeux de l’être, vola au loin et ne revint pas. « Comment cela te plaît-il, camarade ? » demanda t’-il.
Ma traduction :
As the little tailor was brave, he climbed to the top of the mountain. There he glimpsed of a giant who was sitting and looking below. He came close and told him : “Hello my friend, are you gazing at the immense world?” I’m going over there. “Do you want to come with me?” The giant looked at him scornfully. “Scoundrel, measly” he cried out. “What an idea!” said the little tailor who showed him his belt while he was unbottoning his jacket “Do you see/ understand what kind of man I’m!” The giant read : “Seven just like that” and thinking that seven was the number of men who were killed by the tailor, he changed his mind and was more respectful/a little more to him. “We shall soon know who will get the better of us”. However, as the giant wanted to put the tailor to the test, he took a stone and squeezed it in his hand so that water gushed out from it. “Do the same thing/ do it too if you’re strong enough” he told him. “If it’s only that!” the little tailor retorted, “in my country, it’s child’s play”. He took out the cheese from his pocket, squeezed it and a whey spurted out. “Well, what do you say about it? Wasn’t it better?” he asked. Then the giant who didn’t see clearly and wasn’t aware that it was merely a piece of cheese/ a cheese didn’t know what to say; shortly after he picked up a stone which he threw so high that we could hardly see it. “Do the same if you have strengh to little man” he said. “ Well thrown, the tailor admitted, but the stone may have relapsed. I’m going to throw one which won’t lower again”. And he took the bird who was in his bag and tossed it into the air. This latter who was by now free and glad to be >(free), flew away and didn’t come back. “How do you like it my friend?” did he ask.

he glimpsed a giant (v.tr.) or, he caught a glimpse of a giant
who was sitting and looking below.
I'd say:... looking down. (??)
He came close and told him
Is it correct? I don't know. I for one would have said: He came close to him and said.
unbottoning > unbuttoning
“Do you see/ understand what kind of man I’m!”
Can you see ... or: Do you realize what kind....
and was more respectful/a little more to him.
and got more respectful... or: turned more respectful...
“Do the same if you’re strong enough” he told him.
He took out the cheese from his pocket,
He took the cheese out of his pocket
that it was merely a piece of cheese/ a cheese
I for one would say: that it was a mere piece of cheese
“Do the same if you have strengh to little man” he said.
Do the same if you can / do the same if you have strength enough
the stone may have relapsed.
I'd use must instead of may.
relapse: retomber dans un autre sens, je crois, refaire une chute,
The stone must have landed back / the stone must have fallen back
I’m going to throw one which won’t lower again”.
For sure not "again" but "back".
To lower means abaisser, descendre un objet, un niveau.. here rather say: that won't get back / that won't fall back / that won't land back.
