Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde
Message de kan70 posté le 23-01-2016 à 14:18:54 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,

"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is one of the most representative novels of the gothic and the horror by its odd use of suspens, its depiction of the evil and the good and its sinister atmosphery, wrote by the Scotish author Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886.
Indeed, the novel is based on the doubling: Dr. Jekyll, who is prey to the fascination of the vice, dissociated the good part of his soul from the bad part. So, Mr. Hyde, a terrifying killer, appears. The wavering of Mr. Hyde between these two sides finishes by the triumph of Mr. Hyde, pushing Dr. Jekyll to commit suicide to end this infernal cycle. It's a story of decline.
The story occurs in Victorian London, famous for its pea-soupers, cold weather and its nights, and turns around Dr. Jekyll's sinister mansion. Consequently, Stevenson describes a city of many oddities, mysteries and murders (Sir Danver Carew's assassination) through the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (whose 2 years after the publication begin Jack the Rippers' kills).
Finally, we can note the extreme suspense who traverses the novel. The title itself speaks of an «Strange Case». We learn Dr. Jekyll's secret («au fur et à mesure de l'avancée de l'histoire» ?), we follow how he becomes, step by step, the toy of Mr. Hyde and loses his identity splinting into two his personality, in a mansion which slowly transforms into haunted house."

Par avance, merci.

Bonsoir,

"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is one of the most representative novels of the gothic and the horror by its odd use of suspens, its depiction of the evil and the good(on dit "good and evil") and its sinister atmosphery, wrote (participe passé)by the Scotish (2t) author Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886.
Indeed, the novel is based on the doubling: Dr. Jekyll, who is prey to the fascination of the vice, dissociated the good part of his soul from the bad part. So, Mr. Hyde, a terrifying killer, appears. The wavering of Mr. Hyde between these two sides finishes by (with) the triumph of Mr. Hyde, pushing Dr. Jekyll to commit suicide to end this infernal cycle. It's a story of decline.

Merci pour votre réponse gerondif,
Ma référence pour dire "who is prey to" est WordReference Lien internet

Comment reformuler la phrase "whose 2 years after the publication begin Jack the Rippers' kills" ?
Peut-on dire "the text says of, says about... " ?

Bonjour,

to kill a killer
to clean a cleaner.

Vous vouliez peut-être dire : As a matter of fact, Jack the Ripper's brutal murders began two years later.

Bonjour gerondif,

Hello,
Pea souper est obsolète.
